We all were sick throughout the month of Decemeber and I promised the kids we could make a gingerbread house at Christmas time. So, January was close enough. I found a great deal on a kit, we have never made one before - and here is the finished product. It is still together as of today and on the top of the china hutch, waiting to be packed.

Not bad for a few beginners.

I am so not a baker, and I am even less of a decorator but I tried my best to apply myself to decorating the cookies intended for Jacob's Homeschool Co-Op class. They are 3" sugar bombs - I hope a room fully of rambunctious homeschoolers can handle the rush.

Most large urban areas no longer have Trick or Treating for various reasons. Montgomery County is no exception. We attended the huge party at CLC put on for the kids. The cost of entry is one unopened bag of candy each...we went home with over 6lbs of candy. You can imagine how many kids were there.

It was cold there - we packed for Maryland in July - and needed coats and long pants when we got there - somewhere in the 55-69 deg range. Not too bad for a MT family but we still needed to buy coats due to the rain.

'Round the end of last month, Josh tripped on the power cord of said laptop. After crashing to the ground it was discovered that the HD no longer worked.

We're waiting for a new one.

Picasa was on that drive. All those pics are gone. Backed up and current but gone from there. We are waiting for a replacement. Until then, updates will be infrequent.

Someone was freecycling this fridge... so Josh went to pick it up and after a little wrangling and finally getting it into the house and a cleaning, we have a new-to-us second fridge in our laundry room. Works great. Is going to hold the beer, soda and water. Extra Costco items and the freezer to boot.

This is Sunday morning outside the front - see our car? 6 inches of powdery white stuff fell between 9am and 1pm. We drove home from Gaithersburg, MD in this - before any plows got a chance to go thru. I saw a long line of cars follwing us on I-270 - I think the MT plates on our car had something to do with it.

This is the Christmas Tree in front of the Capital that all of us get to hear about on CNN. It was the reason for our visit, it looks like any other 60ft tree decorated for Christmas in the day light. I am sure the lights look great at night but who wants to be in DC at night these days...

The entire tree was a Washington State theme and decorated by kids from WA.

This is the view from the deck. Usually in the morning, I am up too early to see the sun. Thanks to the commuter schedule Josh has to keep. Coffee is brewed though, and ready to drink.

We are in between 2 other people - but there is no noise like in other apartments we have had in the past. This deck is on the main level - there is one above and one below us - not so narrow but lots of stairs.
